Dear friends of Theaterkunst, almost four weeks ago, the political situation in Europe came unravelled. The Russian invasion of Ukraine has jeopardized peace in a way that was unimaginable to many. Our solidarity goes out to Ukraine and its entire population. Through private donations and fundraising campaigns, Theaterkunst is supporting refugees as they arrive in Germany seeking shelter. The German Television Academy has published a steadily growing list of various possibilities to help.
In these times it is important to preserve small islands of normalcy and calm. For us, as always, that revolves around costumes, films and series. The film “Honecker and the Pastor”, directed by Jan Josef Liefers, was recently broadcast on ZDF and ARTE, and is still available on ZDF media library.
We conducted a nice interview with Lucie Bates on her work for the project.
