The documentary “Asta Nielsen – Europe’s first film icon” can be seen on ARTE, for the scenic parts of which costume designer Ellen Hoffmann borrowed original pieces from our collection. The Danish actress Asta Nielsen (1881 – 1972) was Europe’s first film star and created the cinema as we know it today. In more than 60 productions she always played conflicted and modern women.
