Stiller

Cinematic release of ‘Stiller’. Max Frisch’s novel ‘Stiller’ was published in 1954, and it took 70 years for the story to be made into a film.

During a train journey through Switzerland, American James Larkin White (Albrecht Schuch) is arrested at the border. The accusation: he is the sculptor Anatol Stiller (Sven Schelker), who disappeared seven years ago and is wanted for his involvement in a dubious political affair. White denies his guilt and insists that he is not Stiller. To convict him, the public prosecutor asks Stiller’s wife Julika (Paula Beer) for help. But even she is unable to identify him conclusively…

Costume designer Monika Schmid borrowed hats, ties, suits, waistcoats, blouses and coats from our 1950s section for a German-Swiss production.

Starring Albrecht Schuch, Maximilian Simonischek, Paula Beer, Sven Schelker, Marie Leuenberger, among others; Production: C-Films AG, Walker+Worm Film GmbH & Co. KG; Director: Stefan Haupt; Costume design: Monika Schmid
