Ghost Song
On 5 November 2026, “Ghost Song”, the new film by Fatih Akin, will be released in cinemas. The director tells a tender, dreamlike love story set between life and death. Farasha and Faris are 20 when they meet at a school-leaving party – a single glance that changes everything. But that very same night, Farasha dies. In her desperate quest to get in touch with Faris, Farasha finds a way: she can meet him, but only in his dreams and only for 40 nights. And so their love grows, right up until the very last night.
Costume designer Katrin Aschendorf has developed a visual language for “Ghost Song that bridges the gap between the everyday lives of young adults and the ethereal world of dreams. Her costumes make the characters relatable whilst also emphasising the film’s poetic, ghostly atmosphere. Costumes inspired by the theatre are also part of this world.
