Karla

Cinematic release of ‘Karla’. 1962, Germany: Twelve-year-old Karla grows up in a world where children are expected to be quiet. But Karla does not remain silent. She stands up to her father, her family’s silence and a society that prefers to look away rather than listen. Her voice changes everything. Based on a true court case, ‘Karla’ tells the story of a girl who begins to speak up for herself – and in doing so gives others a voice too.

Costume designers Tatjana Brecht-Bergen and Julia Kneusels found judge’s robes, nuns’ habits, historical men’s suits and women’s clothing, shoes and many other costume items in our company for this moving film.
