Creation for baroque opera “Octavia”
We made costumes for the baroque opera ‘Octavia’ by Reinhard Keiser, which was performed by the Lautten Compagney at the Handel Festival in Halle/Saale from 7 to 9 June. For the two opera singers Frieda Jolande Barck and Georg Bochow of the ensemble, we made one costume piece each from pearls. The colleagues in our studio created a chain maille shirt from around 200 classic cream-white beads with a diameter of 3.5 cm. For the black bustier, 3,000 black, faceted jet beads were used, threaded onto jewellery wire using the net technique. Special attention had to be paid to the weight of the beads and the shape of both pieces.
Lene Schwind and Louis Vincent Platzer were responsible for the costume design of the opera ‘Octavia’.
