Four Oscars for “All Quiet on the Western Front”

Four Oscars for “All Quiet on the Western Front”! That’s a record for a German film. Edward Berger’s remake of the Remarque novel won awards for Best International Film, Best Cinematography, Best Production Design and Best Score. Even though there was no nomination for costume design, Lisy Christl, among others, provided an authentic look with costumes and made to measures from Theaterkunst, thus making her contribution to the awards.
