Smilla’s Sense of Snow

Start of the six-part series “Smilla’s Sense of Snow” (Magenta TV) based on Peter Høeg’s international bestseller. The dystopian thriller about truth, identity, and power is set in Copenhagen in 2024. Smilla Jaspersen lives in a surveillance state of the near future that is threatened by an acute energy crisis. She keeps to herself and lives a secluded life until she meets a young Inuit boy. When the boy suddenly dies under mysterious circumstances, Smilla wants to know why. Her search for answers leads her to the icy landscapes of Greenland and into the midst of dangerous political power games.

Costume designer Nicole Fischnaller has selected a variety of costumes from different periods for this production to depict life in Greenland and Denmark in 15 years’ time, when the world will no longer look the same as it does today.
