Schwarzes Gold
The six-part series “Black Gold” will premiere on December 22, 2025, on ARD Mediathek. Johanna Lambert works as a maid, unaware that there is oil beneath her family’s fields. Only her neighbor Richard Pape knows the secret, and a forbidden love affair begins. When an unscrupulous oil trader appears, a battle for power and wealth ensues. Greed, betrayal, and expropriation threaten the entire village. Inspired by true events in Wietze, where one of the world’s first oil wells was drilled in 1858.
Authentic down to the last detail: costume designer Mirjam Muschel borrowed original costumes from the historical period from the Theaterkunst costume collection for the production, bringing the era around 1900 impressively to life.
